Regular or Visiting Faculty – Civil Engineering (2027)

About the role

The Department of Civil Engineering at the American University of Sharjah seeks qualified candidates for a regular or visiting faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor level, commencing in the Fall semester of 2027. The regular appointment focuses on establishing a high‑impact research program, while the visiting appointment is primarily teaching‑oriented.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in civil engineering and related specialties.
• Develop and update curricula, including new courses in construction engineering, management, and digital construction.
• Supervise student projects, theses, and dissertations.
• For regular faculty: design and lead an active research agenda, secure internal and external funding, and publish scholarly work.
• Participate in departmental service, committees, and accreditation activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated teaching experience and a strong teaching portfolio.
• Experience with the American model of higher education is highly desirable.
• For regular faculty: expertise in construction engineering and management and/or digital construction, with a record of research funding.
• For visiting faculty: ability to teach across any civil engineering specialty.
