Reliability Engineer (Paper Manufacturing)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Reliability Engineer to join a leading paper manufacturing plant in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on developing and optimizing electrical asset reliability strategies, reducing downtime and improving overall plant availability through predictive, preventive and reliability‑centered maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and optimise the mill’s Electrical Asset Reliability Strategy to eliminate chronic equipment failures.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on major electrical failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Analyse equipment performance data to identify the top chronic electrical failures and create targeted action plans.
• Maintain equipment criticality rankings in the CMMS/SAP system.
• Oversee predictive maintenance programmes including infrared thermography, motor circuit analysis (MCA) and ultrasound testing.
• Establish and monitor health indicators for HV/LV substations, transformers, VFDs, PLCs and heavy‑duty motors.
• Review and adjust preventive maintenance frequencies and checklists based on field data and OEM recommendations.
• Support planners with detailed technical work procedures for electrical overhauls and shutdowns.
• Manage third‑party electrical contractors during annual shutdowns or emergency breakdowns.
• Ensure all electrical modifications align with ISO 50001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in reliability engineering within tissue paper or continuous‑process paper mills.
• Strong background in asset management, root‑cause analysis and predictive maintenance technologies.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems such as CMMS/SAP.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with federal regulations and ISO standards.
