Research Engineer – Real-Time Visualization

About the role

MBZUAI is looking for a Research Engineer specialized in real‑time visualization to join a Multiscale Biology Visualization AI project. The role focuses on building interactive, browser‑based 2D and 3D visualization tools that integrate procedural geometry with biological AI model outputs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop interactive 2D/3D biology visualization applications in the browser using React, TypeScript, and WebGPU, handling meshes, curves, point clouds and related structures.
• Collaborate with the procedural geometry team to define clean, scalable interfaces and ensure modular, maintainable rendering pipelines.
• Apply GPU optimization techniques and performance profiling to achieve smooth real‑time interaction and efficient memory usage.
• Work closely with computational biologists, geometry engineers and AI researchers, contributing to technical discussions and agile development processes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Software Engineering or a related field (PhD preferred).
• Hands‑on experience with real‑time graphics pipelines such as OpenGL, Vulkan, WebGPU, WebGL or Three.js.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and frontend development using React.js.
