Research Scientist - Microfluidic Devices

About the role

The research group of Prof. Sunil Kumar in the Division of Engineering at NYU Abu Dhabi is recruiting a Research Scientist to conduct research in microfluidic devices. The lab develops paper-based microfluidic platforms for translational medicine applications, including immunoassays, cell migration assays, cell culture and disease diagnosis, as well as new methods for spheroid and organoid culture for drug testing. Projects are highly interdisciplinary and involve collaboration with chemistry, biology and engineering faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Independently design, plan and carry out research project tasks
• Co-mentor doctoral researchers
• Write journal and conference papers
• Conduct experiments and analyse data
• Manage the day-to-day running of the lab

Required profile

• PhD in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, biology, biotechnology or virology
• At least 6 years of relevant experience
• Significant experience with experimentation, design of experiments and data analysis, including cell culture studies
• A background in cell biology, bioengineering, tissue engineering or translational medicine is encouraged
