Restaurant Cashier

About the role

The Cashier plays a crucial role in delivering excellent customer service, accurately processing transactions, and coordinating the flow of orders in a restaurant environment. This position ensures smooth operations, timely food delivery, and a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly, create a friendly atmosphere, and address inquiries or concerns promptly.
• Take food and beverage orders, enter them into the point‑of‑sale (POS) system, and calculate totals.
• Accept payments via cash, credit cards, or digital methods, providing accurate change when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized cash register area and ensure necessary supplies are stocked.
• Assist in recording daily cash balances and follow cash‑handling and reconciliation procedures.
• Use the aggregator system to monitor tablet performance, manage online orders, apply discounts, and update digital inventory in real time.
• Communicate orders clearly to kitchen staff, prioritize based on capacity and special instructions.
• Handle phone calls, provide menu information, and upsell promotional items.
• Collaborate with kitchen and service teams to resolve customer concerns and special requests.
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and allergen information.
• Follow safety and security procedures, reporting any suspicious activity.
• Assist with front‑of‑house duties such as seating guests, bussing tables, and keeping the dining area clean.
• Stay informed about restaurant promotions, events, and policies; attend staff meetings and training sessions.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience as a cashier or in customer service.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced restaurant environment.
• Strong communication skills and basic math proficiency.

Required skills

• Experience with point‑of‑sale (POS) systems.
• Familiarity with aggregator platforms for online order management.
• Ability to update and manage digital inventory in real time.
