Rigging & Lifting Specialist

About the role

The Rigging & Lifting Specialist will provide expert technical oversight for all lifting and rigging activities on the project, ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards, international regulations and project specifications. This role supports safe execution of complex lifts throughout construction and commissioning phases.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve lifting studies, plans, method statements and risk assessments for routine and critical lifts.
• Verify certification, inspection and fitness‑for‑purpose of cranes, lifting equipment and rigging gear.
• Monitor contractor compliance with lifting procedures, permit‑to‑work and management systems.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and witness critical, heavy and tandem lifts.
• Investigate incidents, near‑misses and unsafe conditions, recommending corrective actions.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIMOPS and constructability workshops where lifting is involved.
• Coordinate with Construction, HSE, Engineering, QA/QC and Operations teams.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits and technical recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional certification in Rigging and Lifting from a recognized body.
• Proven experience overseeing lifting operations on large‑scale construction or oil & gas projects.

Required skills

• Rigging and Lifting engineering principles.
• Crane selection, lifting configuration and ground bearing assessment.
• Preparation and review of lifting studies, plans and risk assessments.
• HAZID, HAZOP and SIMOPS workshop participation.
• Knowledge of ADNOC Codes of Practice and international lifting standards.
