Safety Engineer – Yacht Manufacturing

About the role

Sunreef Yachts is looking for an experienced Safety Engineer to lead Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) activities across its luxury yacht manufacturing and shipyard operations. You will ensure a safe working environment throughout hull construction, outfitting, testing and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor HSE compliance and conduct routine safety inspections in workshops, production halls, docks and other shipyard areas.
• Manage Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) processes for high‑risk tasks such as hot work, confined‑space entry, work at height, lifting, electrical isolation and chemical handling.
• Oversee safety during FRP/composite fabrication, resin mixing, sanding, grinding and related chemical activities.
• Prepare and review risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA/JHA) and method statements.
• Coordinate with production, engineering, quality, facilities and subcontractors to implement corrective actions and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Safety Engineer in a shipyard or marine construction environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of shipyard hazards including hot work, confined spaces, work at height, lifting operations, FRP/composite work, painting and chemical handling.
• Ability to work closely with multidisciplinary teams and manage contractors.
• Familiarity with local HSE regulations and international standards.
