Safety, Health & Environment Advisor (Site)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Safety, Health & Environment Advisor to lead site‑based safety programs for AECOM in Abu Dhabi. The role involves developing, implementing and maintaining comprehensive HSE policies, ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a strong safety culture across all project activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections and hazard assessments to identify risks and non‑compliance.
• Develop, implement and maintain safety policies, procedures and protocols aligned with UAE regulations and international standards.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near‑misses, analyse root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare and maintain safety documentation, records and reports for regulatory compliance and internal review.
• Deliver safety training and awareness programs to employees at all levels.
• Audit safety management systems to ensure adherence to ISO 45001 and best practices.
• Collaborate with site management to develop emergency response and disaster‑management plans.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of occupational health and safety advisory or management experience in industrial or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of UAE and GCC health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to develop and implement safety management systems.
• Experience liaising with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Safety management software proficiency.
• Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with ISO 45001 occupational health and safety standards.
• Risk assessment methodologies.

• Incident investigation techniques.
