Safety Officer

About the role

The Safety Officer will lead health, safety, security, environment and quality (HSSEQ) initiatives for a major EPC project in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to project management, the role ensures safe delivery, hand‑over and operation of the asset while supporting sustainable and cost‑effective outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Drive HSSEQ goals, objectives and targets through personal leadership and active involvement.
• Provide HSSE guidance to ensure the Project HSSE Management System is integrated into overall execution strategy.
• Monitor EPC Contractor performance to guarantee HSSE objectives are met.
• Champion a strong safety culture, engage stakeholders and lead safety‑related activities.
• Identify, evaluate and resolve HSSE issues during the EPC phase.
• Coordinate with PMC construction engineers on HSSE tasks throughout construction.
• Oversee implementation of HSSE procedures, plans and audits by the EPC Contractor.
• Ensure EPC Contractor’s HSSE personnel are qualified and that vendor/sub‑vendor HSSE systems comply with project standards.
• Maintain HSSE records and support investigations of any HSSE concerns.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HSSE management on large EPC or construction projects.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence contractors and internal teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and make decisions that prioritize safety.
