Scaffolding Technician – Oil & Gas (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

The Scaffolding Technician will work on offshore oil and gas sites, ensuring that all scaffolding systems are safe, compliant and fit for use in live plant environments. The role involves routine inspections, safety checks, and providing design input for complex scaffolding requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine checks of erected scaffolding to verify stability, safety and compliance with approved specifications.
• Perform pre‑use and post‑modification inspections of scaffolding structures to guarantee continuous safe use.
• Identify unsafe conditions or hazards related to scaffolding activities and initiate corrective actions.
• Issue and maintain scaffolding tags and certificates according to site safety procedures.
• Provide basic design input, calculations and drawings for complex scaffolding requirements.
• Support erection and dismantling practices to ensure proper execution and safety.
• Comply with HSEMS and oil & gas safety standards applicable to live plant environments.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of practical scaffolding experience, preferably in live oil & gas plant environments.
• Technical Diploma (minimum 3 years) or equivalent qualification.
• Scaffolding Inspector Training Certificate with knowledge of scaffold design and calculation.
• Fair spoken and written English for site coordination and reporting.
• Gulf region experience is considered an advantage.

Required skills

• Support scaffolding activities and erection/dismantling of scaffolding systems.
• Routine checks of erected scaffolding and pre‑use/post‑modification inspections.
• Knowledge of scaffold design, calculation and interpretation.
• Scaffolding safety compliance in live oil & gas plant environments.
• Identification of unsafe conditions and hazard mitigation.
• Understanding of different scaffold types and surface preparation techniques.
