Senior Accountant

About the role

Our client, a well‑established FMCG company in Dubai, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead day‑to‑day accounting operations. The role focuses on managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, reporting and financial controls within a fast‑moving consumer goods environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, payments and customer receipts, including credit notes.
• Perform regular supplier and customer account reconciliations.
• Monitor outstanding receivables, follow up overdue balances and manage customer credit limits.
• Ensure timely settlement of supplier payments and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and support month‑end closing activities.
• Assist with cash‑flow monitoring, working‑capital management and preparation of management accounts.
• Review transactions for accuracy, completeness and compliance with company policies.
• Support VAT‑related accounting and documentation in line with UAE regulations.
• Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, customers and auditors as required.
• Identify discrepancies and contribute to improvements in accounting processes and controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in FMCG, distribution, trading or retail.
• Strong hands‑on experience in both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and month‑end closing procedures.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict reporting deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced Excel skills for reconciliations and financial analysis.
• Knowledge of UAE VAT and general UAE accounting practices.
