Senior Associate – Environmental

About the role

The Senior Associate – Environmental will support the implementation, monitoring and continual improvement of Aldar’s Environmental Management System (EMS) across all construction and development projects. The role ensures compliance with UAE legislation, Environment Agency Abu Dhabi requirements, Estidama and ISO 14001 while promoting sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the EMS, including policies, procedures, objectives and targets.
• Monitor compliance of PMCs, consultants and contractors with EIAs, CEMPs, permits and environmental targets.
• Coordinate the acquisition of environmental permits and NOCs from project start to hand‑over.
• Conduct regular site inspections and internal/external environmental audits, including second‑party audits.
• Oversee environmental monitoring (air, water, terrestrial), SDS compliance and chemical limits in line with UAE law.
• Manage pollution control, waste management, recycling, emergency response, conservation and renewable energy initiatives.
• Promote environmental awareness through campaigns, alerts and training.
• Liaise with the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi and other authorities on compliance matters.
• Prepare monthly environmental performance reports and dashboards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related discipline (Environmental Diploma preferred).
• ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification.
• Minimum 5 + years of experience in environmental engineering, preferably with large developers, construction firms or government entities in the UAE/GCC.
