Senior Backend Engineer (IoT & Messaging)

About the role

You will join an elite, stealth‑mode R&D laboratory focused on AI‑driven robotics, automation and industrial IoT. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will own the server‑side architecture that connects physical devices to intelligent cloud and edge services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement clean, layered REST APIs in Node.js (Express) with full OpenAPI documentation and optimized PostgreSQL models.
• Develop and maintain robust MQTT device messaging contracts, including payload schemas, per‑device security, command acknowledgements and idempotent event handling.
• Architect high‑throughput, reliable message flows using RabbitMQ (exchanges, DLQs, prefetch) and Redis for caching, pub/sub and state management.
• Implement security features such as token rotation, RBAC, audit logging and mTLS device authentication.
• Integrate backend services with internal AI/ML inference workloads and build automated integration tests and CI device simulators.

Required profile

• 5+ years of production‑grade backend engineering experience, primarily with Node.js.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL schema design, indexing, query tuning and connection pooling.
• Extensive experience with RabbitMQ routing, dead‑letter queues and at‑least‑once delivery guarantees.
• Proven expertise in MQTT brokers (e.g., Mosquitto), QoS handling, TLS client certificates and per‑device ACLs.
