Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Key responsibilities

• Architect and build large‑scale distributed systems supporting millions of users and tens of thousands of requests per second.
• Design event‑driven architectures, partitioning strategies and highly scalable data platforms with a focus on reliability and fault tolerance.
• Lead performance optimisation initiatives across application, infrastructure, storage, networking and caching layers.
• Own systems end‑to‑end from architecture and development through production operations and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, including AI‑driven capabilities, to solve complex engineering and business challenges.

Required profile

• Extensive backend engineering experience building highly scalable, distributed systems in production.
• Proven experience operating services handling 20,000‑30,000+ requests per second and large‑scale user traffic.
• Deep expertise in system design, distributed architecture, concurrency, partitioning, consistency models and performance engineering.
• Demonstrated success solving scaling, latency, reliability and availability challenges in mission‑critical platforms.
• Strong technical curiosity and ability to rapidly learn new technologies, domains and AI capabilities independently.
