Senior Biomedical Engineer – Biomedical Engineering

About the role

The Senior Biomedical Engineer will support the Manager in ensuring that biomedical design specifications and performance requirements meet SSMC and local authority safety standards. This role involves research, risk management, equipment procurement, and maintenance within a fast‑growing healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and publish findings related to biomedical engineering.
• Perform biomedical investigations to support medical risk management and incident analysis.
• Interpret technical data and specifications for equipment procurement and maintenance.
• Provide guidance on equipment selection, facility modifications, and spare‑part availability.
• Oversee engineering drawings of medical equipment, ensuring accuracy of electrical, mechanical and civil aspects.
• Prepare and monitor the annual physical asset management and maintenance plan.
• Monitor external best practices for biomedical equipment management.
• Develop technical requirements and evaluate new medical technologies.
• Conduct site tests, analyse data, propose modifications and retest equipment as needed.
• Ensure implementation of regulatory standards, policies and procedures.
• Coordinate vendor training and support for staff.
• Manage office operations, filing and record‑keeping.

Required profile

• BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of postgraduate experience in biomedical engineering, with at least 4 years in a senior supervisory or management role.
• Demonstrated experience in medical equipment procurement, maintenance and risk management.
