Senior Buyer

About the role

The Senior Buyer will plan and select the range, type, quality and quantity of merchandise in line with customer demand, trends and store policies. Working closely with the Brand Manager/GM, the role ensures buying activities meet budget, sell‑through targets and brand positioning.

Key responsibilities

• Drive seasonal strategies and formulate gross margin plans aligned with brand positioning.
• Develop and fine‑tune assortment and investment plans, including sourcing development and critical‑path execution.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, freight costs and promotional involvement with new suppliers and place purchase orders.
• Manage Open‑to‑Buy (OTB) in coordination with planning counterparts.
• Prepare and maintain the buying calendar, and collaborate with Marketing and Visual Merchandising on seasonal product focus.
• Analyse weekly sales performance by style, range and category, taking in‑season actions to optimise production flows.
• Manage Time‑Need‑Analysis (TNA) plans and implement seasonal range building.
• Conduct competitor surveys to identify product gaps and inform range planning.
• Oversee product hierarchy, seasonal phasing and in‑store visual merchandising guidelines.
• Stay updated on market trends and competitor activities, and deliver product training to staff.
• Review buying feedback reports and advise the General Manager on buying strategy.
