Senior Commercial Manager – Rail Systems

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to lead the commercial management of a high‑speed rail systems package in Abu Dhabi. The role covers end‑to‑end commercial strategy, contract administration and cost control across signalling, telecommunications, traction power and rolling stock interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with project objectives and contractual obligations.
• Lead full lifecycle contract administration, including claims management, variations and change control governance.
• Negotiate with contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to secure value‑for‑money outcomes and manage commercial risk.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, commitments and earned value; drive cost control and cash management.
• Partner with engineering, procurement and project controls to align scope, schedule, cost and risk.
• Identify, quantify and mitigate commercial risks while tracking opportunities and contingencies.
• Prepare and present commercial reports, dashboards and recommendations to senior management.
• Build, mentor and manage a commercial team, promoting best practices and consistent procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of commercial management experience on large‑scale infrastructure or rail programmes.
• Proven delivery of high‑speed rail or complex rail systems projects.
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC, NEC or similar contract frameworks and change/claims processes.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical and communication skills with a track record of stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced, multi‑disciplinary matrix environments.
