Senior Data Engineer

About the role

The Senior Data Engineer joins a cross‑functional team within dnata’s Enterprise Data & Analytics space. You will design, develop, test, implement, support and maintain data and analytic solutions that serve Emirates Airlines and the wider Emirates Group businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical design and build for small to medium‑sized data solutions.
• Translate functional and non‑functional analytics requirements into fit‑for‑purpose technical designs.
• Address performance, edge‑case, and security considerations throughout development.
• Debug complex issues, resolve blockers and follow design documents with minimal supervision.
• Write and review production‑grade data‑engineering code, ensuring adherence to data‑privacy and cybersecurity standards.
• Assist with source system analysis, data modelling, data‑dictionary creation, profiling and source‑to‑target mapping.
• Update data inventories, metadata and lineage registers in line with governance guidelines.
• Conduct independent unit testing, troubleshoot moderate to high‑complexity defects, and shadow senior engineers on architecture components.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering end‑to‑end data‑engineering solutions in a collaborative environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into technical specifications.
• Self‑starter who can work autonomously, debug complex problems and mentor peers.
• Familiarity with data‑governance practices and security principles.
