Senior Data Platform Engineer

About the role

BlackStone eIT is looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise‑wide data platforms. You will ensure the infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and optimized for advanced analytics and business intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data platforms supporting diverse workloads.
• Develop and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines for efficient data movement and transformation.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure platform security, governance and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues and drive continuous improvements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• 8+ years of data engineering experience with a focus on platform architecture.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with big‑data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark.
• Knowledge of data governance, security and compliance standards.

Required skills

• SAP data extraction (OData, RFC/BAPI, SAP Data Services, CDS views)
• Python for async pipelines and scheduled tasks
• PostgreSQL schema design, migrations (Alembic), query optimisation
• Azure Data Lake Storage and Synapse Analytics
• Microsoft Graph API (SharePoint, M365)
• Apache Airflow or Azure Data Factory
• dbt (or equivalent) for transformations and quality testing
• Redis for queue management and caching
• Observability tools (structured logging, Azure Monitor, Prometheus/Grafana)
• Docker for containerised jobs
• Infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform or equivalent)
