Senior Design Engineer - Water and Wastewater

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Senior Design Engineer for its water and wastewater practice in Dubai. The role leads the design and implementation of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including sewer systems, stormwater management and water distribution networks, and provides technical guidance on hydrology and hydraulic modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including sewer systems, stormwater management and water distribution networks.
• Develop hydraulic models for sewer and water systems using software such as InfoWorks and InfoWater.
• Manage the pre-design, design and construction phases of wet utilities projects, develop project scopes, cost estimates and schedules, and coordinate with clients, stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
• Prepare engineering designs, specifications and construction documents, conduct site assessments, hydraulic modelling and system performance evaluations.
• Design pumping systems, pipelines and treatment plants, including surge mitigation equipment and air/vacuum valves.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of design and construction documents, monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with modeling guidelines and design standards.
• Work with structural, geotechnical, electrical and instrumentation engineers, hold progress review meetings and compile periodic reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from a university recognised by the UAE SOE.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience, at least 5 in the UAE or another GCC country.
• Preference for candidates with professional qualifications such as PE, ICE and CIWEM.
• Experience in conceptual designs, feasibility studies and master planning for water and wastewater systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Bentley SewerGems, WaterGEMS, InfoWorks, InfoWater and GIS applications.
• Knowledge of pumping stations, water quality modelling, septicity analysis and transient analysis.
• Familiarity with permitting processes and regulatory compliance with Dubai Municipality and DEWA.
