Senior Design Manager – Property & Buildings

About the role

The Design Manager will lead multidisciplinary design projects within WSP’s Property & Buildings sector, covering commercial, mixed‑use and high‑performance environments. You will work with global expertise to deliver technically excellent, commercially successful solutions while shaping long‑term client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee delivery of multiple multidisciplinary design projects, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction.
• Act as senior client advisor, building long‑term partnerships and identifying repeat‑business opportunities.
• Provide governance to Design Managers and project teams, maintaining quality standards, risk management and resource utilisation.
• Promote best‑practice design management aligned with WSP’s Business Management System, Future Ready, Sustainability and Digital Delivery goals.
• Drive adoption of BIM, Common Data Environments, Digital Twin and data‑led design approaches.
• Lead project reviews, design assurance and technical governance across a portfolio of projects.
• Support business planning, major bid leadership, client presentations and market development activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 15+ years of experience in the Property & Buildings sector with leadership of multidisciplinary design teams.
• Proven record of delivering large‑scale, complex building projects and managing senior‑level client relationships.
• Strong commercial acumen, including project financial management and risk mitigation.
• Chartered Engineer, Registered Architect, PMP or equivalent accreditation is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of BIM and Digital Twin technologies.
• Experience with Common Data Environments and Digital Delivery workflows.
• Information Management expertise.
• Technical understanding of Architecture, Structural Engineering, MEP, ICT and Fire & Life Safety disciplines.
