Senior Director – FX & Commodities Trading

About the role

The Managing Director – FX & Commodities Trading leads Mashreq’s foreign exchange and commodities trading activities across approved products, markets and jurisdictions. The role is accountable for delivering sustainable risk‑adjusted revenue, managing trading books and market risk within limits, and strengthening the bank’s franchise in FX and commodities markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the FX and commodities trading strategy aligned with Treasury & Global Markets priorities.
• Deliver sustainable revenue growth and risk‑adjusted returns across approved trading books.
• Manage trading positions, liquidity, inventory, hedging and market risk within approved mandates and limits.
• Provide competitive pricing and execution support to sales and client coverage teams.
• Oversee trading activities across spot, forwards, swaps, options, precious metals, energy and other approved commodities products.
• Monitor global macro trends, central bank actions, commodity supply‑demand dynamics and geopolitical developments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering or related discipline; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, ACI Dealing Certificate or equivalent are preferred.
• Extensive experience in FX, commodities, derivatives trading or global macro markets, with proven ability to manage trading books and senior trading teams in a regulated environment.

Required skills

• FX trading expertise covering spot, forwards, swaps and options.
• Commodities trading expertise including precious metals and energy products.
