Senior Editor – Editorial & Content Strategy

About the role

The Sharjah Art Foundation is seeking a Senior Editor (English) to lead the creation and refinement of a wide range of textual content. You will work within the Editorial and Content Strategy department, reporting to the Head of Editorial and Content Strategy, and help shape the voice of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Write, copy‑edit, fact‑check and proofread texts in line with SAF style guidelines.
• Provide substantive editing suggestions on structure, coherence, style and vocabulary for diverse audiences.
• Conduct research and rewrite texts where needed, covering curatorial essays, exhibition catalogues, biographies, event descriptions, captions, website copy, press releases, newsletters and social media posts.
• Liaise regularly with artists, curators and internal SAF teams.
• Organise editorial projects, run meetings and workshops, track timelines and deliver progress reports.
• Mentor and support other editors or writers as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in art, English or a related field.
• Minimum ten years of experience in editorial or content strategy roles.
• Native‑level command of British English syntax, punctuation and spelling.
• Strong knowledge of modern and contemporary art history and familiarity with artists and curators previously exhibited by SAF.
• Basic understanding of SAF’s multidisciplinary activities (art, photography, performance, film, architecture, etc.).
