Senior EHS Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior EHS Engineer to lead safety and risk management on our substation construction projects in Abu Dhabi. The role involves overseeing electrical and excavation safety, managing permits, and driving incident investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed Job Safety Analyses (JSA) for tasks such as transformer installation, cable pulling, and switchyard gantry erection.
• Manage and audit the Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) system, ensuring proper authorisation before entry to energized zones.
• Enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures to guarantee equipment is safely de‑energised.
• Verify that electrical tools and personal protective equipment meet voltage and arc‑rating requirements.
• Check and apply temporary grounding/earthing during construction to prevent accidental energisation.
• Oversee excavation safety, including shoring and underground utility detection for grounding grid works.
• Deliver site‑specific safety inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings for contractors and visitors.
• Lead root‑cause analysis of near‑misses or accidents and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience performing JSA for high‑voltage electrical installations.
• Ability to manage PTW processes and conduct PTW audits.
• Strong knowledge of LOTO procedures and electrical safety standards.
• Experience with grounding/earthing verification on construction sites.
• Familiarity with excavation safety practices, including shoring and utility detection.
• Competence in delivering safety inductions, toolbox talks and incident investigations.
