Senior Electrical Engineer – LV Switchgear Design

About the role

Vertiv is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead end‑to‑end LV switchgear design activities. The role is hands‑on, technical ownership at an Assistant‑Manager level, and includes mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full design lifecycle of LV switchgear panels such as PCC, MCC, APFC, and distribution boards.
• Prepare, review and release single‑line diagrams, control schematics, GA drawings, wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
• Develop, validate and optimise Bills of Materials for cost‑effectiveness and manufacturability.
• Ensure compliance with IEC 61439, project specifications and relevant electrical codes.
• Define and validate protection schemes, interlocking logic and control philosophies.
• Perform load calculations, short‑circuit studies and thermal evaluations.
• Act as the technical interface with customers, consultants and project teams.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, QA/QC and project teams to ensure design intent is executed.
• Support and lead FAT, internal design reviews, customer inspections and audits.
• Drive design standardisation, value engineering and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews and best‑practice sharing.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 15‑20 years of hands‑on LV switchgear design experience.
• Strong exposure to PCC, MCC, APFC and distribution board projects.
• Ability to work independently on multiple parallel projects.
• Excellent communication skills for customer and consultant interaction.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SEE Electrical, ePLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
• In‑depth knowledge of IEC 61439 and LV system design.
• Experience with protection coordination, ACBs, MCCBs, contactors, relays, meters, CTs and APFC components.
• Experience in APFC panel design, detuned reactors and harmonic mitigation (preferred).
• Familiarity with ERP systems for BOM control and engineering change management.
