Senior Ellucian Applications Specialist

About the role

The Senior Ellucian Applications Specialist will be a key member of the IT team, responsible for implementing, maintaining and optimizing the Banner ERP system and its Extensibility and Ethos platforms to support academic, administrative and financial processes.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support the Banner system, ensuring high availability, performance and regular upgrades.
• Gather business requirements, design functional solutions and configure/customize Banner modules, Experience Cards and Extensions.
• Develop and maintain in‑house applications, integrations and APIs using Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, React, AngularJS and related technologies.
• Manage data integrity, security roles and access permissions in accordance with institutional policies.
• Lead migration of legacy Oracle Forms/Reports to modern Ellucian Experience Cards and SaaS solutions.
• Collaborate with database administrators, developers and network engineers to integrate Banner with other systems.
• Conduct performance analysis, system tuning and troubleshooting of complex technical issues.
• Assist with Banner‑related projects, defining requirements, timelines and resources to ensure on‑time delivery.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in enterprise application development, support and integration, with strong hands‑on expertise in Ellucian Banner Extensibility and the Ethos Platform.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload and deliver high‑quality results with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for interacting with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Ellucian Banner Extensibility toolset (Schema Designer, API Designer, Page Builder, etc.).
• Ethos Integration, Data Connect pipelines, GraphQL and RESTful API development.
• Experience with Java, J2EE, Groovy, Grails, Spring Boot, Node.js, React, AngularJS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Database expertise: Oracle PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL and migration of PL/SQL packages.
• CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Docker, monitoring with Datadog.
• Security standards: SAML, OAuth, JWT, OWASP, tools such as Snyk, Burp, Checkmarx.
• Testing and performance tools: SonarQube, JMeter, Jest, Playwright.
