Senior Engineer, Petroleum

About the role

Al Dhafra Petroleum is hiring a Senior Engineer, Petroleum in Abu Dhabi on an external contract. The role plans and coordinates the activities of a team of multi-disciplinary petroleum development professionals responsible for developing, monitoring and ensuring timely execution of drilling operations in an assigned field.

Key responsibilities

• Define completion requirements in line with the production and injection strategy for the wells.
• Support the studies team in pilot hole data acquisition planning, execution and evaluation, and identify production optimization opportunities.
• Evaluate and perform artificial lift design for oil producers, finalize the well testing strategy and monitor testing results.
• Monitor well performance daily, diagnose issues and evaluate optimization opportunities.
• Perform nodal analysis for production system optimization and help reservoir teams with pressure transient analysis.
• Monitor drilling activities, communicate concerns and provide technical support.
• Maintain a database of wells covering operational details, tests, pressure history and optimization work, and flag deviations from the agreed plan.
• Recommend and plan special tests before wider field or reservoir implementation, and study alternatives for upgrading or debottlenecking facilities.
• Review applications of new technology in production, injection and artificial lift, and direct feasibility studies.
• Prepare monthly production and injection potential estimates, set priorities for opening depleted wells and follow up on gas and water injection.
• Plan, supervise and train staff, contribute to budgets and performance objectives, and ensure compliance with HSE policies and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent.
• 8 years of experience in all aspects of petroleum engineering operations.
• Ability to work in an air-conditioned office, with occasional site visits in hot, humid and dusty conditions.
