Senior HSE Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior HSE Officer to support the NMDC project HSE Manager in delivering world‑class health, safety and environmental performance for our dredging and marine projects in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures compliance with local regulations, international codes and NMDC’s own HSE Management System while protecting people, assets and the surrounding environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the HSE Manager in implementing and maintaining the HSE Management System (HSEMS) across the project.
• Attend internal and client meetings to capture project‑specific HSE requirements.
• Conduct random safety spot‑checks, enforce zero‑tolerance policies for unsafe practices and alcohol abuse.
• Analyse HSE observations and incidents, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Supervise subcontractors and site teams on safety matters, coordinate accident investigations and track incident closure.
• Monitor housekeeping programmes, perform periodic inspections of safety and lifesaving equipment, fire‑fighting gear, gas monitors and breathing apparatus.
• Develop and deliver HSE training plans, ensure workforce competency and oversee emergency drill exercises.
• Maintain HSE registers, incident reports, lessons‑learned databases and compile weekly HSE statistical reports.
• Support the Project Manager in achieving HSE targets, JSA compliance and toolbox‑meeting facilitation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• Relevant HSE management qualification with NEBOSH or OSHA certification.
• Proven experience in dredging and marine environments.
• Strong knowledge of the ISM Code, applicable maritime regulations and industry standards.
