Senior HSE Specialist

About the role

ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC is hiring a Senior HSE Specialist in Abu Dhabi to lead and monitor the implementation of Health, Safety and Environment policies, procedures and management systems across project sites. The role ensures compliance with UAE HSE regulations, client requirements, applicable legislation and international safety standards, and covers power infrastructure projects such as substations, overhead transmission lines and underground cables.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and implement project-specific HSE plans, risk assessments, emergency response plans and permit-to-work, lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures.
• Conduct site inspections, HSE audits and compliance assessments, and investigate accidents, incidents and near misses with root cause analysis.
• Review and approve risk assessments, job safety analyses, method statements and HSE documentation; monitor high-risk activities such as electrical works, lifting, working at height, excavation and confined space entry.
• Monitor subcontractor HSE performance and coordinate with clients, consultants, regulators and third-party auditors.
• Lead HSE meetings, toolbox talks, inductions, awareness campaigns and training; mentor HSE engineers and officers.
• Prepare HSE reports, dashboards and management updates, and support ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management system improvement.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health requirements, including waste management, heat stress management and worker welfare.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8-10 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably in power transmission, electrical infrastructure or EPC construction projects.
• Proven experience managing HSE activities across multiple project sites.
