Senior Industrial Refrigeration Design Engineer

About the role

Daikin Middle East & Africa is seeking a Senior Industrial Refrigeration Design Engineer to lead the design of ammonia‑based refrigeration systems for large‑scale industrial projects. The role combines advanced engineering analysis with hands‑on project support to deliver safe, efficient and compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop industrial refrigeration systems, focusing on ammonia (NH3) applications.
• Perform thermal load calculations, system sizing and select compressors, condensers, vessels, PHEs and other critical equipment.
• Create and review P&IDs, flow diagrams, layout drawings and detailed technical drawings using CAD tools.
• Conduct performance analyses, optimise system efficiency and ensure compliance with ASHRAE, GCC and local regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers and site installation teams throughout project execution.
• Provide technical support for troubleshooting, commissioning and cost estimation, including material selection and vendor coordination.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best‑practice design standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience designing industrial refrigeration systems, with a strong focus on ammonia‑based solutions.
• Deep understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer and refrigeration cycles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Revit for creating detailed engineering drawings.
• Ability to perform thermal load calculations and system sizing.
• Knowledge of international refrigeration codes such as ASHRAE and regional GCC standards.
