Senior Iron Works Technician

About the role

Emirates Steel Industries is seeking a Senior Iron Works Technician to lead the repair and fabrication activities of the Ironworks Section across the plant. The role focuses on maintaining high quality, safety, and production efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Execute scheduled corrective maintenance and major repairs to optimise production and minimise downtime.
• Respond promptly to iron‑works breakdowns, ensuring quality standards are met.
• Prepare tools, tackles and equipment before each job and report any abnormalities.
• Inspect equipment to verify compliance with engineering principles and safety regulations.
• Support the Workshop Supervisor in all fabrication areas and coordinate with other departments.
• Follow defined quality and safety standards during shutdowns and routine work.
• Lead a team of technicians and welders, providing instruction and acting as supervisor when required.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving ability and capacity to handle multiple changing responsibilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
• Detail‑oriented, organized and self‑motivated.
• Effective communication in English and Arabic, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Arc welding, MIG welding, TIG welding, copper welding and stainless‑steel welding.
• Gas cutting and grinding techniques.
• Use of dye‑penetrant testing for crack identification.
• Interpretation of engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Site measurement, marking, template making and preparation of workpieces.
