Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

Senior Legal Counsel providing commercial, enterprise and ICT legal support, acting as the primary legal contact for business units.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as focal legal contact for enterprise, commercial and ICT-related agreements, delivering commercially focused advice.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts including commercial, ICT, partnership, manpower, data sharing, NDAs, MOUs, GTCs and standard templates.
• Ensure contracts align with internal policies, commercial objectives and risk management principles.
• Provide legal support on data security, confidentiality and sensitive matters, managing data sharing agreements.
• Offer general legal advisory, identify risks and propose business-oriented solutions.
• Develop and deliver legal training, contribute to policy and process improvement.
• Coordinate external counsel, ensuring quality, cost control and alignment with business needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in an in-house legal role or law firm in the UAE, with strong focus on commercial contracts.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider legal team, engaging effectively with key stakeholders.
• Experience supporting ICT, technology, partnerships and data-related agreements (telecommunications experience desirable).

Required skills

• Strong English legal drafting, written and verbal communication skills.
• Commercial focus, pragmatic and solutions-oriented mindset.
• Fluency in Arabic desirable.
• Negotiation skills for commercial contracts.
• Understanding of commercial, ICT/technology, confidentiality and data-related legal issues.
• High discretion handling sensitive matters and strong stakeholder management.
