Senior Manager - ESG Risk

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Manager to embed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into the bank's credit risk framework. You will work within the Governance, Policy and Control team to align credit practices with ESG standards, regulatory expectations, and the bank’s risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Implement an ESG framework through policies, rationalise procedures, establish risk appetite and monitoring mechanisms, and mitigate reputation risk.
• Conduct ESG scorecard assessments, enhanced due diligence and manage external ESG consultants.
• Lead system changes for ESG policy monitoring and support user‑acceptance testing of risk systems.
• Support data collection and post‑extraction review to identify data quality issues.
• Provide training on approved policies, procedures, circulars and risk standards to ensure compliance across business, credit and operations teams.
• Adhere to organisational and departmental policies, processes and standard operating procedures while delivering high‑quality service to customers and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in ESG or risk management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or a related field.
• Professional ESG accreditation and knowledge of UAE regulatory reporting standards.
• Familiarity with TCFD, TNFD and financed emission best practices.
• Understanding of core banking products (CIBG, CBG, Treasury) and credit risk processes.
• Experience with accounting concepts, KPI/KRI monitoring and credit MIS.
