Senior Mechanical Engineer (MEP)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 5‑6 years of UAE HVAC design experience to lead the design, analysis and execution of building mechanical systems. The role involves ensuring compliance with project specifications, local authority regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed building cooling load calculations using recognized methods and software.
• Design and review HVAC systems, including ducting, chilled water, VRF, ventilation and equipment selection.
• Size and select HVAC equipment such as chillers, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, heat exchangers and exhaust fans.
• Prepare and review detailed design drawings and schematics using AutoCAD (Revit knowledge is an advantage).
• Optimize HVAC solutions for efficiency, cost‑effectiveness and energy compliance.
• Ensure compliance with UAE municipal, Civil Defence and ASHRAe standards.
• Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, architectural and structural disciplines for MEP integration.
• Review shop drawings, technical submittals and material approvals.
• Prepare BOQ, cost estimates and value‑engineering proposals.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support site teams during installation, testing, commissioning and handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5‑6 years of experience as an HVAC Design Engineer in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of UAE building codes, ASHRAE standards and authority approval processes.
• Proven leadership, coordination and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• AutoCAD (and preferably Revit).
• HVAC design software such as HAP.
• HVAC load calculation methods.
• Equipment sizing and selection.
• Knowledge of UAE building codes and ASHRAE standards.
