Senior Mechanical Engineer (Supervision)

About the role

A site‑based engineering position supervising the construction, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of mechanical building services for airport and aviation infrastructure projects in Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation of HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, smoke control, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, fuel and compressed air systems ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Review shop drawings, technical submittals, material approvals, equipment schedules, method statements and inspection & test plans, coordinating with architectural, structural, electrical, ICT, security and specialist systems.
• Conduct regular inspections, monitor contractor activities, issue observations and NCRs, and verify corrective actions.
• Review mechanical designs and calculations for compliance with project requirements, authority regulations and international codes.
• Witness inspections, pressure testing, flushing, balancing, FAT, SAT, start‑up and commissioning activities.
• Review RFIs, shop drawings, technical submissions, variation proposals and claims, providing technical recommendations.
• Monitor construction progress, verify completed works for payment certification and contribute to project reports.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, airport authorities, operators, end users and statutory authorities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 10‑15 years of experience in mechanical building services engineering, including design review, construction supervision, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Experience on airport, aviation or major infrastructure projects preferred.
• Strong knowledge of UAE regulations and international standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, CIBSE, SMACNA.
• Professional memberships, LEED, Estidama or commissioning certifications are advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC.
• Experience with cooling load calculation software (HAP or IES).
• Solid understanding of HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, drainage, fire protection and smoke control systems.
