Senior Mechanical Inspector & Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The position combines senior mechanical inspection with engineering responsibilities on a large construction project in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure that all mechanical works, from HVAC to firefighting systems, are installed in compliance with drawings, specifications, and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect site conditions before the start of mechanical works and verify readiness for installation.
• Attend and respond to Work Inspection Requests, taking actions according to project procedures.
• Monitor and inspect installation of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, fuel systems and other mechanical services.
• Report non‑conforming works, issue Site Observation Reports (SOR) and Non‑Conformance Reports (NCR).
• Verify that delivered materials and equipment match approved submittals and manufacturer recommendations.
• Ensure contractor compliance with QA/QC procedures and HSE requirements.
• Witness and verify mechanical testing and commissioning activities such as pressure testing, flushing, balancing, performance and functional testing.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing activities, progress reports and corrective actions.
• Assist senior engineer in reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and technical submissions.
• Review mechanical designs, calculations and equipment selections throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in mechanical inspection and engineering on construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of local authority requirements, international codes and contract specifications.
• Proven ability to coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers and project stakeholders.
• Excellent documentation skills and ability to produce detailed inspection and testing reports.
