Senior Network Planning Engineer – Power Transmission

About the role

EtihadWE is looking for a Senior Engineer specializing in Network Planning for Power Transmission. You will develop and implement strategic transmission network plans to ensure reliability, stability, and expansion of the power system infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct transmission network studies including load flow, short circuit, contingency, transient stability, and power quality analysis using PSS/E, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Develop short‑term, medium‑term, and long‑term transmission expansion plans in line with grid codes and reliability requirements.
• Perform grid interconnection and feasibility studies for generation projects, renewable plants, BESS, HVDC systems, and large customer connections.
• Evaluate network performance, system adequacy, and transmission constraints; recommend reinforcement and remedial actions.
• Review and validate RMS and EMT simulation models for renewable projects and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct dynamic model acceptance testing, benchmarking, and grid compliance assessments.
• Assess system strength, reactive power capability, voltage stability, frequency response, and fault ride‑through performance.
• Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, OEMs, developers, and regulators on technical matters.
• Prepare technical reports, recommendations, engineering studies, and presentation materials for management and regulatory submissions.
• Support the maintenance of planning databases, simulation models, and study methodologies.
• Participate in evaluating advanced transmission technologies such as FACTS devices, STATCOMs, and HVDC.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with extensive experience in power system planning and studies.
• Strong knowledge of grid codes, regulatory standards, and transmission reliability criteria.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
