Senior Officer – Payments Sanctions Monitoring

About the role
The Senior Officer will lead the Payments Sanctions Monitoring function within FAB’s First Line of Defense, ensuring compliance with sanctions, AML/CTF regulations across local and international operations.
Key responsibilities
- Support implementation of the group‑wide compliance strategy for sanctions payment screening.
- Monitor and test controls, identify gaps, and define risk‑mitigation strategies.
- Review and screen client transactions for sanctions and AML/CTF risks.
- Assess screening capabilities of product platforms and surveillance systems.
- Identify and drive continuous improvements to screening processes, methodologies and parameters.
- Collaborate with Technology, Data & Reporting teams to produce KPI/KRI reports for senior stakeholders and international branches.
Required profile
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, sanctions and AML/CTF policies within the UAE and international jurisdictions.
- Experience in monitoring, control testing and risk appetite management.
- Ability to work closely with second‑line compliance and business lines.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Required skills
- Knowledge of sanctions screening tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity with KPI/KRI reporting and data analysis.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks from CBUAE and global governing bodies.
