Senior Officer - Shari’a Assessment & Testing

About the role

The Senior Officer – Shari’a Assessment & Testing supports the leadership team in ensuring Shari’a compliance across the ADIB Group. The role monitors business activities against Higher Shari’a Authority standards, Central Bank regulations and internal supervisory resolutions.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the annual Shari’a Assessment and Testing plan using a risk‑based methodology and the Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) platform.
• Conduct thorough Shari’a monitoring and assurance reviews across all business units and functions.
• Evaluate operations and transactions for compliance with HSA standards, CBUAE regulations and internal resolutions.
• Prepare detailed review reports and communicate findings to senior leadership.
• Monitor implementation of action plans and support continuous improvement of compliance controls.
• Assist in assessing Shari’a Non‑Compliance risks and coordinate with Business Units and Operational Risk teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Shari’a, Islamic banking or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Shari’a compliance, consultation or audit within Islamic banking.
• AAOIFI CSAA and/or CIPA certifications (or equivalent).
• Fluency in Arabic and English.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of AAOIFI Shari’a Standards.
• In‑depth understanding of Islamic banking products and operations.
• Proficiency in risk‑based assessment methodologies.
• Experience with Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) platforms.
