Senior Oracle Database Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to support enterprise technology projects with a focus on Oracle performance tuning and DBA automation. The role works in a fast‑paced delivery environment, handling multiple projects and providing out‑of‑hours support when required.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support Oracle databases in production and non‑production environments.
• Perform end‑to‑end performance tuning at SQL and database level.
• Manage high‑availability architectures such as Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Data Guard.
• Execute backup and recovery operations using RMAN and handle patching cycles and version upgrades.
• Administer environments through Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and operate databases on OCI and AWS.
• Automate recurring DBA tasks with Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform and Groovy.
• Lead or support database migration projects.
• Write and maintain Bash and Python scripts to improve operational efficiency.
• Provide production support during out‑of‑hours and weekends.
• Collaborate within Agile delivery teams across multiple simultaneous projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 8+ years of Oracle DBA experience in large organisations.
• Strong hands‑on knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN and OEM.
• Proven experience with database patching, SQL performance tuning and migration methodologies.
• Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS.
• Good understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems and Agile working practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
