Senior Principal Engineer – DLC Mechanical Commissioning Lead

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced DLC Mechanical Commissioning Lead Engineer to drive the commissioning and deployment of liquid cooling infrastructure across EMEA. The role combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership in fast‑paced AI‑focused data centre environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate internal deployment teams, service delivery engineers, contractors, OEM staff and customer teams to execute mechanical commissioning activities.
• Own the mechanical commissioning lifecycle from planning and readiness reviews through Level 2‑5 commissioning and final customer handover.
• Serve as the primary onsite technical authority for all mechanical commissioning activities and technical escalations.
• Participate in design, constructability and commissioning readiness reviews to identify risks and ensure successful execution.
• Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, control philosophies and sequences of operation to verify readiness and alignment with design intent.
• Lead safe execution of commissioning activities in compliance with site EHS requirements, RAMS and risk assessments.
• Verify installed systems meet operational, performance, reliability and customer acceptance requirements.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and technical troubleshooting during commissioning, performance validation and defect resolution.
• Support onboarding, coaching and technical development of commissioning engineers and deployment partners, and deliver onsite training and knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in commissioning, deployment, operations or engineering within mission‑critical environments such as data centres, industrial process cooling, power generation or oil & gas.
• Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, fluid dynamics, pumping systems, material compatibility and corrosion control.
• Proven ability to write technical reports, troubleshoot complex systems and perform analytical assessments.

Required skills

• Experience commissioning DLC infrastructure, including CDUs, secondary fluid networks, rear‑door cooling and air containment.
• Use of commissioning management platforms such as CxAlloy or equivalent.
• Familiarity with industry standards and best practices such as ASHRAE, OCP and Nvidia Guidelines.
• Knowledge of Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, Integrated Systems Testing and Level 2‑5 commissioning methodologies.
• Understanding of control systems, PLCs, BMS integrations and datacenter infrastructure monitoring platforms.
