Senior Principal HSE Engineer – Design Safety (EPC)

About the role

The Senior Principal HSE Engineer will lead the design‑safety discipline for EPC detailed engineering projects, solving complex HSE challenges and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Reporting to the Discipline Manager, the role combines technical expertise with leadership of large multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED and detailed HSE analyses and design in accordance with project specifications, codes and standards.
• Lead and direct large engineering teams, managing scope, schedule, budget and resource allocation for complex projects.
• Coordinate with customers, certifying authorities, auditors and third‑party agencies, representing the discipline in meetings.
• Prepare and approve technical documents, design reports, safety studies, fire‑protection specifications and vendor submittals.
• Provide technical support to fabrication and construction, conduct quality audits and capture lessons learned.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to development of global procedures, standards and software tools.

Required profile

• Recognised specialist in HSE engineering with extensive EPC project experience.
• Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary engineering teams and manage complex technical programmes.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, capable of communicating highly technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Fire Protection & Safety Engineering.
• HSE engineering design and analysis.
• Proficiency with hydraulic calculation software such as PIPENET.
• Knowledge of industry design codes, standards and API specifications.
• Familiarity with MDR global procedures and lessons‑learned systems.
