Senior Software Engineer – Backend

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer – Backend at dubizzle, you will join a high‑performing cross‑functional squad focused on delivering reliable, scalable services to millions of users across the UAE and beyond. You will quickly get up to speed with the existing codebase and help shape the technical direction of your product stream.

Key responsibilities

• Gather deep knowledge of the dubizzle codebase and technology stack within weeks.
• Lead planning sessions for new features, define rollout and rollback strategies, and own end‑to‑end delivery.
• Research industry trends and apply them to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Create and maintain unit tests, conduct code reviews, and ensure high‑quality releases.
• Design and deliver REST‑based APIs within a Service‑Oriented Architecture.
• Mentor peers, participate in pair‑programming, and guide complex tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering (preferred).
• 6+ years of professional backend development experience, primarily with Python/Django.
• Proven experience building high‑traffic, large‑scale web products.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
