Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

About the role

Core42, an AI-powered cloud and digital infrastructure provider, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) in Abu Dhabi. The engineer will architect, scale and maintain the backend services powering Core42's platform, designing high-performance, secure and reliable systems while mentoring other engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop microservices and RESTful/gRPC APIs with Python (FastAPI/Flask) for cloud-native deployment on Azure
• Optimize backend performance through concurrency management (AsyncIO), caching and resource efficiency, and fix bottlenecks in distributed systems
• Design optimized schemas for PostgreSQL and MongoDB/Redis, with data consistency and migration patterns
• Lead the backend implementation of GenAI features, including RAG workflows, vector database integration and LLM orchestration
• Implement circuit breakers, rate limiting and graceful degradation for mission-critical uptime
• Set up logging, distributed tracing and metrics (Prometheus/Grafana/Azure Monitor)
• Work with DevOps on Terraform/Bicep and CI/CD pipelines for zero-downtime deployments
• Enforce security best practices such as OAuth2/OIDC, encryption and secure API gateways
• Lead design reviews, set coding standards and mentor mid-level engineers

Required profile

• Masters' or bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field
• 7+ years of hands-on backend development experience
• Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices and distributed architectures
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD and containerized deployments
• Experience with message queues and event-driven architecture (Event Hub, Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Preferred: proven technical leadership and mentoring experience; Azure certification; hybrid/multi-cloud familiarity; frontend experience with React, React Native, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3
