Senior Software Engineer - Backend (Java, Kafka)

About the role

The Lean Store team owns revenue-critical and compliance-sensitive infrastructure, from payouts and billing to the regulatory ledger behind ADGM and SwiftX growth. As a Senior Software Engineer on this squad you will take full ownership of core systems, drive delivery on committed integrations and ensure the reliability of infrastructure processing millions in transactions. It is a hands-on execution role for an engineer who thrives on owning domains end-to-end.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain core ledger functionality supporting SwiftX compliance and ADGM regulatory requirements
• Own the billing system end-to-end, including reliability, maintenance and evolution
• Deliver the Mal integration, a committed new integration with direct revenue implications
• Cover ongoing payouts infrastructure: incident response, client features and DC-related work, keeping SLAs on a live revenue stream
• Proactively improve stability, performance and scalability across the squad's domain
• Give design-level code reviews, refine designs and write clear technical specifications

Required profile

• Strong backend engineering in Java, Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, microservices and REST APIs
• Ability to own a domain independently, handle most backlog items without direction and drive design decisions
• Writes high-quality, secure, fully tested code with solid monitoring and alerting
• Clear communicator who can explain technical risk to engineers and leadership, reliable on commitments and escalates early
• Nice to have: fintech or payments background, experience in regulated financial environments, mentorship experience
