Senior Software Engineer – Simulation & Engineering Products

About the role

The Senior Software Engineer – Simulation & Engineering Products will lead the evolution of TII's digital engineering platform for propulsion and flight‑vehicle research. You will transform programme‑specific tools into robust, reusable software products that meet commercial‑grade standards and support multiple future programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop backend and frontend components using Python/FastAPI and React, extending capabilities such as SysML v2 modelling, test‑campaign management and 3D visualisation.
• Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, regression suites and containerised deployments for offline and restricted‑network environments.
• Refactor physics‑based simulation code (gas‑turbine solvers, engine model adapters) into versioned libraries with stable APIs, applying scientific software testing practices.
• Create data ingestion pipelines for engineering test data (TDMS, HDF5), enforce consistency checks and generate traceable evidence reports.
• Integrate software with hardware‑in‑the‑loop systems, supporting real‑time telemetry, high‑rate logging and time‑synchronisation.
• Conduct senior code reviews, enforce engineering standards and mentor junior team members.
• Contribute to research publications on model adaptation, AI‑assisted engineering tools and test‑data engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience delivering production‑grade software, preferably in aerospace, energy or scientific computing.
• Proven track record of owning software through the full lifecycle, including versioned releases, API management and long‑term maintenance.
• Strong background in CI/CD, DevOps, containerisation and environment management.
