Senior Specialist, Faculty Development & Learning Innovation

About the role

The Senior Specialist in Faculty Development & Learning Innovation will drive Ajman University’s teaching and learning agenda. Reporting to the Director of the Teaching and Learning Center, the role designs, coordinates and implements faculty development programmes that embed outcome‑based education, innovative pedagogy and ethical use of educational technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Support the operationalisation of the AU Faculty Professional Development Framework.
• Design and deliver workshops, toolkits and resources that promote active learning, authentic assessment and outcome‑based education.
• Create asynchronous professional development opportunities to broaden faculty access.
• Collaborate with colleges to translate institutional teaching priorities into practical capability initiatives.
• Monitor and document progress of teaching‑learning strategic initiatives.
• Develop and manage recognition mechanisms such as teaching excellence awards and fellowship pathways.
• Coordinate faculty participation in internationally benchmarked recognition frameworks (e.g., Advance HE Fellowship).
• Contribute to the dissemination of best teaching practices across the university.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience in faculty development, instructional design, or related higher‑education roles.
• Proven ability to design and deliver workshops, toolkits and asynchronous learning resources.
• Experience working with academic units to align teaching initiatives with institutional strategies.
