Senior Structural Engineer - High-Speed Rail

About the role

A high-caliber Senior Structural Engineer with 7 to 10 years of experience is sought, specializing in High-Speed Rail (HSR) projects, major transit infrastructure, complex station buildings and heavy civil structures. You will lead structural design, advanced calculations, technical compliance and structural interface coordination across HSR stations, elevated structures, maintenance depots, bridges and viaducts and associated rail facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural design for HSR stations, elevated viaducts, bridges, deep foundations, maintenance depots and operation control centres from concept through detailed design to construction issues.
• Perform and review 3D finite element analysis, concrete and steel calculations, foundation design, lateral load resisting systems and seismic/dynamic loading.
• Coordinate structurally with civil alignment, architecture, MEP, trackwork, catenary support, station loading and geotechnical teams.
• Supervise 3D structural BIM models (Revit Structural/Tekla) and construction drawings, ensuring quality assurance, spatial clearance and clash resolution.
• Ensure compliance with Eurocodes, ACI, AISC, BS, AREMA, NFPA 130 and sustainability frameworks such as LEED, Estidama and GSAS.
• Support construction supervision by resolving RFIs, reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings and bar bending schedules, and inspecting reinforced concrete pours, post-tensioning and steel erection.

Required profile

• 7 to 10 years of structural engineering design experience on major transport infrastructure, HSR, metro stations, elevated viaducts or large public buildings.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; Chartered Engineer (CEng / MIStructE) or PE status strongly preferred.
• Prior design office or project delivery experience in the GCC, including familiarity with local municipal approvals and regional climate factors, is highly desirable.

Required skills

• ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD.Pro and RAM Structural.
• Autodesk Revit (structural BIM), Navisworks, AutoCAD and FEA tools such as Robot Structural Analysis, MIDAS or Plaxis.
• Extensive knowledge of Eurocodes, ACI 318, AISC 360, AREMA, AASHTO LRFD, rail dynamics and vibration criteria, and NFPA 130.
