Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

Zutari, a buildings, engineering and advisory firm with over 90 years of experience across Africa and the Middle East, is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer. The role suits someone with at least 15 years of experience supervising complex building structures such as high-rise towers, long-span steel roofs, post-tensioned systems, deep foundations and mixed-use developments, ensuring structural integrity and working with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise reinforced concrete, post-tensioned slabs, structural steel and composite structures on site
• Oversight of deep foundations, transfer girders, cantilevered elements and complex load-transfer systems
• Review and approve shop drawings, method statements and material submittals for non-standard or innovative structural systems
• Monitor and inspect specialized works such as mega columns, outrigger systems and large-span trusses
• Coordinate with design teams on design-build challenges and value-engineering solutions
• Ensure compliance with local codes and regional regulations
• Verify structural integrity, troubleshoot site issues and report nonconformances (NCRs/SORs)
• Work closely with contractors to keep safety, cost and schedule under control

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's preferred
• At least 8 years of experience, including site supervision of complex building projects in the UAE/Dubai
• Strong knowledge of ACI, BS, Eurocodes and UAE local authority requirements (DM, Trakhees, etc.)
• Ability to review shop drawings, material submittals and construction methods
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• UAE Society of Engineers registration is an advantage
