Senior Systems Engineer - Landing Gear

About the role

EDGE is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, integration and verification of landing‑gear systems for unmanned aerial vehicles. The role covers the full development lifecycle, from defining requirements through to flight testing, and works closely with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Define system requirements and architecture for landing‑gear components, develop technical specifications and conduct sizing and trade‑off studies in line with ARP4754.
• Lead integration of the landing‑gear with airframe structures, avionics, hydraulic and control systems, managing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic interfaces and producing Interface Control Documents.
• Perform system‑level analyses (static loads, dynamic, fatigue), safety assessments (FHA, FMEA, PSSA) and support verification, validation and flight testing activities.
• Manage requirements using DOORS, ensure traceability, compliance with aerospace standards and support internal design reviews and maintenance planning.
• Evaluate and monitor suppliers, review technical deliverables and contribute to manufacturing, lifecycle and obsolescence strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering with 10+ years of aerospace systems engineering experience, including at least 8 years in landing‑gear design or integration.
• Proven experience on UAV, aircraft or rotorcraft programs, safety‑critical system design and managing the full system life‑cycle.
• Strong knowledge of aerospace and defence standards (DO‑254, ARP4761, MIL‑STD‑810H, DO‑160, AS9100, GCAA, EASA) and certification processes.

• CAD tools: CATIA, SolidWorks.
• Analysis and modeling: MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, ADAMS.
• Requirements management: DOORS.
• PLM/configuration tools: Teamcenter, Windchill, ARAS.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and electromechanical actuation systems, EMI/EMC compliance, and system safety assessments.
